New Web-based Application: Analysis, Web Strategy and Information Architecture, User Testing
Client: Financial services firm
Project: The client was building a web-based application to collect and analyze trade ideas from brokers
Process:

1. We started this project by developing target user profiles and core tasks to use as the basis for a task-based User Experience Analysis of the existing prototype.
2. Next we developed a Strategy Brief to define the product including business goals, Web site goals and objectives, success factors,target user types, core activities and usage scenarios, feature and functionality prioritization.
3. Then we created a Functional Description to define the site map, navigation system and page structures.
4. With client feedback we developed final wireframes and oversaw the design of the interface visual language including page layout, typography, color and chart design.
5. Once the first round code had been completed, we conducted an analysis to ensure that the design specifications were followed.
6. Several months after launch, we conducted live user testing to measure ease of use, effectiveness and satisfaction. The resulting report illustrated specific pages and elements where users encountered errors and provided specific design improvement recommendations.

Site Analysis and Best Practices
Client: International charitable organization
Project: To inform the site redesign, the client needed their Web site evaluated to identify deficiencies and competitors evaluated to identify best practices.
Process:

1. Define user tasks
2. Conduct tasks and capture screenshots
3. Analyze paths and pages, identifying strengths and opportunities
4. Evaluate competitor sites, capture screenshots, develop illustrated best practices

Redesigned Web Site: Wireframing and Site Restructuring
Client: Municipal transportation agency
Project: Redesign trip planner tools and site structure
Process:

1. Define mission-critical tasks and must-have functionality
2. Sketch task flows
3. Develop/refine wireframes
4. Develop new site map

Web-based Tutorial Videos
Client: Financial services firm
Project: Hundreds of new users sign up each month for the client’s B2B application. The client wanted to create a series of short, web-based tutorial videos to help their new users get acquainted with the features and functions of the site.
Process:

1. Define tasks and sections of the site that require tutorials.
2. Write and refine scripts to fully explain site functionality, yet remain concise.
3. Record (audio/video), edit and produce tutorials using TechSmith Camtasia software.
